Are you focusing on your wellbeing at work?

In the last 12 months, so much has changed in the way we are working. For many people, a full-time return to a structured office may not be on the cards just yet. Are you still working from your kitchen table or, have you been able to create a permanent workspace? It is really important to make sure that you look after your mind and body, no matter where you are working. This article will give you some ideas of how you can make sure you’re focusing on your wellbeing while you’re at work.

Improve your wellbeing at work with a well thought-out desk with laptop & office chair.

Make sure you are comfortable

A relatively small investment in an office chair will really be appreciated by your back! As a minimum, you will want to have the option of adjusting the back support angle and height. Also, adjustable lumbar support will really help. I work with an arm-less chair but, choose the most comfortable option for you.

If you don’t have a dedicated workspace, you may not have enough room for an extra piece of furniture. So, if you can’t or don’t want to buy a dedicated chair, consider obtaining separate lumber support. This addition is available from under £10.

Put your laptop in the right place

If you are working from a laptop only, make sure that the screen and keyboard are in the correct position for you. There are many different types of laptop stands available to ensure that you are not straining your wrists or neck.

Alternatively, you could consider a standing desk stand for your laptop. These are a great option if you have the space as many studies have shown that standing while working is far better for us.

Focus on your body & your mind

Sitting at a computer all day can be so bad for your joints and muscles. Make sure that you keep your body moving – set alarms on your phone to make sure you take regular breaks. When you can, get outside and enjoy some time in the fresh air. Also, make sure that you switch off from work at the end of the day – it’s very easy to keep checking your e-mails throughout the evenings and weekends. Just because your laptop is there, you don’t have to use it -you need some down-time.

Although we seem to be moving towards the end of lockdown, focusing on your wellbeing at work will remain to be really important.
